They say our life is in our hands. Dr. Ergon says our life is not just in our hands but in the way we control our body posture!
Posture is the position in which you hold your body while standing, walking or sitting. A good body posture involves training your body to stand, walk and sit in positions where the least strain is placed on supporting muscles and ligaments.
Here is how a good posture can help you and your body.
- Keeps bones and joints aligned the right way so the muscles are used properly
- Helps cut down on the wear and tear of joint surfaces, thus preventing arthritis
- Decreases the strain on the spinal ligaments
- Prevents spine from becoming fixed in abnormal positions
- Ensure efficient use of muscles thus avoiding body fatigue
- Prevents backache and muscular pains
Here are simple tips and tricks you can try while doing your daily activities to improve your health, increase your productivity and ensure a happy life!
Correct sitting position
- Sit with your back straight and your shoulders back
- Distribute your body weight evenly on both hips
- Bend your knees at a right angle
- Keep your knees even with or slightly higher than your hips. (Use a good foot rest like Dr. Ergon Footrest)
- Avoid sitting in the same position for more than 30 minutes
- Adjust your chair height so you can sit close to the table.
- Even better, use Dr. Ergon laptop stand so your neck is aligned with your laptop
- Don’t twist at the waist while sitting but instead turn your whole body
Correct driving position
- Use a back support at the curve of your back
- Your knees should be at the same level or higher than your hips
- You can also keep a Dr. Ergon back support cushion to avoid back pain
- Move the seat close to the steering wheel to support the curve of your back
- The seat should be close to allow your knees to bend and your feet to reach pedals
Use these simple tricks and watch your productivity soar and your happiness quotient increase.
Happy living!
